Take out the bolts from the differential housing cover then drain all the lubricating fluid from the housing. Apply silicone sealant to both machined surfaces of the differential housing and cover after cleaning them from oil contamination while thoroughly covering the inside of the rear axle. Apply a continuous bead of Clear Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA we use or its equivalent as stated in Ford specification ESB-M4G92-A on the gasket mating surfaces. Install the differential housing cover within 15 minutes after silicone application or discard existing sealant and repeat the process. The axle processing time requires at least an hour for silicone sealant curing before adding lubricant to the chamber. Install the differential housing cover while applying the bolts. The rear axle requires a lubricant filling process that begins with 118 ml (4 oz) of Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent to Ford specification EST-M2C118-A followed by a 2.4 liter (5.0 pint) fill-up with the appropriate lubricant before installing the fill plug. Install either SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL or an equivalent that meets Ford specification WSP-M2C197-A for conventional axles or SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant F1TZ-19580-B which fulfills Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A for Traction-Lok axles. Finally, lower the vehicle.
