2003 Ford Focus Alternator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the alternator on 2003 Ford Focus?
A: Service and repair of the alternator starts with battery cable disconnection. First detach the top heat shield nut from the generator then elevate and sustain the vehicle. Start by detaching the accessory drive belt tension from the generator pulley to remove the belt while also removing the lower splash shield screws and the accessory drive belt tension followed by the removal of the two generator nuts and bolt. The service and repair of the alternator begins with removing the lower nut of the generator heat shield followed by the heat shield's removal. To uninstall the air intake tube assembly you should first release its two retainers. The generator B+ cable nut should be removed and the two generator nuts and bolt need to be taken off. Lower the vehicle and disconnect the generator electrical connector before separately uninstalling the upper generator mounting nut. Raise the vehicle to the proper height and support it at this position after which you must take out the engine roll restrictor mount bolt. The procedure requires engine forward movement to remove the generator together with an assistant. When installing this part you should execute the steps in reverse order of removal.
