2003 Lincoln Navigator TPMS Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the TPMS Sensor on 2003 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Start repairing or servicing the tire pressure sensor by disassembling the wheel and tire assembly where you should additionally install a new sensor grommet to block air leaks. Keep the valve stem core in place when operating the tire pressure control. Tire pressure failure may occur when the valve stem core is missing so installation of a new nickel-plated core becomes necessary to stop corrosion from damaging the system. Free the tire pressure through the removal of sensor retaining nuts but drop the sensor into the tire while keeping the valve stem facing the 6 o'clock direction. A suitable tire machine should be used to separate the tire beads while maintaining the valve stem mounting hole located at 6 o'clock. Place the wheel-tire setup on the tire machine turntable so the valve stem hole faces 270 degrees away from the mounting/dismounting fixture before marking the valve stem and wheel weight positions and applying tire bead lubrication for outside bead dismountment from the rim. Take out the tire pressure sensor as you toss away the grommet. After placing the sensor in position you must tighten the retainer nut before mounting the tire while maintaining the rim and tire in a static relation. Apply lubrication to the outside tire bead before attaching it to the rim and follow the tire pressure value written on the safety certification sticker near the driver door jamb to inflate the tire. Complete the task by reattaching and training the tire pressure sensors followed by reinstallation of wheel and tire.
