2004 Ford Crown Victoria Brake Light Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake light switch on 2004 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: Service and repair of the brake light switch requires starting by disconnecting the battery ground cable. The service begins with disconnection of the LH instrument panel insulator along with the pin-type retainers and courtesy lamp detachment. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake pedal position (BPP) switch before you can take out the BPP switch by removing its self-locking pin followed by the brake master cylinder push rod spacer. The BPP switch must be detached from its position on the brake master cylinder push rod before removing the brake master cylinder push rod bushing. The installation method requires following all steps in the removal sequence in the reverse order.
