How to service and repair the thermostat and thermostat housing for the 4.6L engine on 2004 Ford F-150?

In order to service the thermostat and housing of the 4.6L engine, partially drain the cooling system, disassemble the air cleaner assembly and perform the recommended steps of the removal. Installation Reverse the installation process and fill and bleed the cooling system. Clean coolant should be lubricated on the new thermostat O-ring prior to installation.
