2004 Ford Mustang A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the suction A/C accumulator on 2004 Ford Mustang?
A: Refrigerant recovery should be the first step in servicing the suction accumulator. Detach the electrical connector of the A/C cycling switch along with the removal of the cycling switch. Initiate service of the suction accumulator by first disconnecting the suction line spring lock coupling then removing the clamp nut to extract the suction accumulator from the evaporator outlet before discarding O-ring seals. Service of the suction accumulator requires installation steps which include putting new O-ring seals into the suction accumulator but only after the seals are properly lubricated with PAG oil. Reinstallation follows the reverse order of disassembly. Evacuation should be followed by leak-testing before charging the refrigerant system.
