2004 Mercury Marauder Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2004 Mercury Marauder?
A: The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor service starts with disconnecting the battery ground cable. You should remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley and detach the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector from its port. Start by supporting the vehicle underlift and proceeding to disconnect both electrical connectors from the CKP sensor. Begin by removing the nut followed by detachment of the wiring harness clips. Slide the A/C compressor down approximately one inch by only loosening its bolts since complete bolt removal is unnecessary. Proceed by removing both the CKP sensor bolt together with its attached sensor. Follow the opposite steps of removal to execute the installation process.
