2004 Mercury Monterey A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2004 Mercury Monterey?
A: Service and repair of the condenser core requires that you position the vehicle on a hoist with neutral gear selector position. Start by recovering refrigerant before you remove the needed components according to their specified order. The lines should be free of routing clips while the lower radiator support needs proper support before removing its bolts. The lower radiator support must have stable support until all bolts are successfully removed. The installation process requires the reverse execution of removal steps while adding clean PAG refrigerant compressor oil (F7AZ-19D589-DA, Motorcraft YN-12-C) but excludes using mineral oil (F73Z-19577-AA, Motorcraft YN-9-A) as lubricant for the A/C compressor. Must install fresh O-ring seals which received mineral oil lubrication before users reconnect any components involved in the A/C system which underwent disconnection. Before finishing the process complete system evacuation followed by leak testing and necessary pressure charging. A replacement suction accumulator becomes necessary only under two conditions: either a broken A/C compressor causing system contamination or damage to the accumulator itself exists.
