2005 Ford Crown Victoria Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2005 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor service process requires the vehicle to remain in neutral position and stand on a hoist. First disconnect the battery ground cable while removing the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley. Service of the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector requires you to raise the vehicle first. The wiring harness clips detach after you disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector and remove the nut. The A/C compressor bolts can stay in place while you slide the compressor down one inch for accessing and removing the CKP sensor. Finish the operation by taking out the sensor bolt together with the sensor itself. Execution of service requires following the same order in reverse to reinstall the components.
