2005 Lincoln Aviator Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the lower intake manifold on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: The lower intake manifold service begins by taking away the upper intake manifold and executing cooling system draining procedures. First disconnect the spring lock couplings of the fuel line and then remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module tube. The service begins with removing the two generator bracket nuts and two bolts while taking off the bracket before tightening each component to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) during reassembly. Reattach the generator bracket studs after tightening them to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). The cooling crossover tube requires disconnection while replacing used O-rings with new ones that get pre-lubricated with Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant VC-7-A (VC-7-13 in California and Oregon, VC-7-C in Canada) or an equivalent yellow coolant WSS-M971351-A1. The four engine harness retainers must be detached from the lower intake manifold and the fuel rail pressure sensor vacuum hose and electrical connector as well as the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) motor electrical connector and the eight fuel injector electrical connectors. First inspect the intake manifold gaskets before removing the lower intake manifold bolts and manifold itself while hand tightening and properly torquing the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) based on the specified sequence for installation. The reverse steps should be followed to finish the replacement process while filling and bleeding the cooling system.
