2005 Lincoln Aviator Wheel Bearing Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the front wheel bearing and wheel hub on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: You should start front wheel bearing and wheel hub servicing by disconnecting the engine compartment wheel speed sensor that is secured to the fender aprons. First detach the wheel speed sensor harness from the brake hose before removing the wheel okay and tire assembly. The brake hose-to-wheel knuckle bolt must be removed while tightening it to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) before reinstalling it. Begin with the removal of two anchor plate bolts that need to be installed by tightening them to 210 Nm (155 ft. lbs.) Keep the brake caliper stable while hanging from the hose to evade damage because the caliper should rest with the pads and anchor plate to one side. The brake disc should be removed before you discard the three wheel hub-to-wheel knuckle bolts that need to be tightened to 112 Nm (83 ft. lbs.) upon reinstallation. To finish the project reinstall all components starting from the wheel bearing and hub assembly while using new wheel hub-to-wheel knuckle bolts.
