2005 Mercury Mariner A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser core of the HVAC system on 2005 Mercury Mariner?
A: A worker can repair or service the condenser core of an HVAC system after placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. Recover the refrigerant while removing the front bumper cover. Works proceed by first removing the two condenser core peanut fitting nuts then tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when reinstalling them. The four bolts securing the condenser core brackets must be unfastened as well as the two brackets which need to be tightened at 9 Nm (80 lb-in) during reinstallation. A new O-ring requires clean mineral oil for lubrication before mounting a new condenser core switch. Perform the opposite steps to Refigure 1 to install the switch while using PAG oil for lubrication then evacuate and perform leak tests followed by correct refrigerant charging.
