How to Service and Repair the Front Door Latch Assembly on 2005 Mercury Mariner?

Removing the exterior handle and unscrewing its reinforcement screw will allow service of the front door latch. Unscrew the interior handle and cable, remove the old latch bolts and screw in the new ones to a tight of 8 Nm. Loose the electrical connector and take out the latch assembly. Installation is a reversal of the steps and the surfaces should be lubricated.
