2006 Ford Crown Victoria Ignition Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the ignition switch on 2006 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: Service and repair operations on the ignition switch need to start by depowering the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Start by placing the ignition switch lock cylinder at RUN and use a suitable tool to push upward on the release tab which allows you to pull the cylinder outward. First unlatch and remove the tilt lever from the steering wheel before pushing the upper steering column shroud sides to release it. The upper and lower steering column shrouds need their three screws removed but reinstallation must follow with screw tightening to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.). Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector before removing its screw to extract the switch while torquing it to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.) during installation. The SRS repowering process should start with a reversal of the removal sequence.
