Service of the left-hand exhaust manifold begins with placing your vehicle in neutral position on a work hoist. The exhaust manifold needs its four retaining nuts removed from the dual converter Y-pipe before the mechanic sets the Y-pipe to the side. Start by removing the six nuts that pose and the gasket between the left-hand exhaust manifold while discarding these items. The six left-hand exhaust manifold studs must be taken out before disposal. A quality check of the left-hand exhaust manifold gasket surfaces for flatness must happen before the installation process. New left-hand exhaust manifold studs should be installed with a tight torque of 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Use six new nuts to fasten the left-hand exhaust manifold against the gasket while tightening them to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Use the four nuts to fasten the dual converter Y-pipe and tighten them to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
