2006 Ford Freestyle Ignition Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the ignition switch on 2006 Ford Freestyle?
A: A technician should depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS) at the start of ignition switch service and repair operations. Open service to the upper steering column shroud by applying pressure to its sides. The owner should remove the lower steering column shroud by dislodging its three mounting screws followed by the shroud itself. Lock the tabs of the ignition switch then remove the electrical connector before unlocking the tabs to take out the ignition switch. The new ignition switch needs installation following the removal steps before restoring power to the SRS.
