2006 Lincoln Navigator Parking Brake Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the front parking brake cable on 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Service of the front parking brake cable begins with taking out the parking brake control. You must deactivate electrical power to air suspension by enabling the switch near the rear passenger area jack storage to avoid uncontrolled air spring movements while working to protect safety. Position the vehicle on a hoist while keeping it in the neutral gear. Removal of the front park brake cable P-clip-to-frame bolt should be followed by fitting it back into place at 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) torque. Detach the front parking brake cable and conduit by first dislodging the rubber seal from the front floor pan then compressing the retaining bracket to free up the conduit before removing the front cable and conduit from the cable union at the end of the process. Complete the installation through reverse execution of the removal process.
