2006 Lincoln Town Car A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Vehicle service for the suction accumulator in the HVAC system requires a hoist at NEUTRAL position. Remove the refrigerant before disconnecting the suction accumulator outlet fitting while discarding expired O-ring seals. The service continues by removing the inlet fitting followed by disposal of its O-ring seals. The first step consists of removing the three bolts from the suction accumulator while disconnecting its electrical connector and subsequent re-tightening the bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Reattach the ignition system and install new O-ring seals before installing the suction accumulator and lubricate the refrigerant system with clean PAG oil at the correct amount. The refrigerant system needs to be evacuated followed by a leak test and a charge process. The need for installing a new suction accumulator exists only when physical evidence shows contamination from a failed A/C compressor combined with evidence of existing suction accumulator damage.
