2006 Mercury Monterey Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the Output Shaft on 2006 Mercury Monterey?
A: Repair and servicing procedures for the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor begin with removing both the catalytic converter and the heat shield. Start by removing the OSS sensor connector and proceeding to take off the OSS cover by disconnecting the connector and bolt followed by removal of the cover itself. Start with sensor OSS replacement unless the OSS cover and sensor are the only required components of the installation. Fasten the cover with the provided bolt by tightening it to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) and then reattach the OSS connector. Reinstall both the heat shield followed by the catalytic converter.
