2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty Rear Crossmember Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front cross-member and rear crossmember on 2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: To begin the service or repair process of the transmission support crossmember start by implementing vehicle elevation along with support before disconnecting the electrical connection from the transmission support crossmember. First support the transmission before removing its insulator nuts then unfasten the gusset bolts that mount the gusset to the frame. Then you should take out the gusset by first removing the nuts and bolts which hold it to the transmission support crossmember. Remove the transmission support crossmember nuts and bolts from both the right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) sides by placing the lines correctly before starting. Installation starts with placing the transmission support crossmember in position then installing loosely the nuts and bolts on the LH side followed by the RH side. Use 90 Nm force (67 lb-ft) to tighten LH side nuts before installing loosely the gusset retaining nuts and bolts to the transmission support crossmember and frame. The technician first tightens the transmission support gusset to the frame with 90 Nm torque (67 lb-ft) before securing the RH side fasteners similarly to 90 Nm torque (67 lb-ft) and finally torques the gusset retaining bolts to the transmission support crossmember to 90 Nm (67 lb-ft). New transmission support insulator nuts should be installed before tightening them to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft). To complete the procedure detach the support from the transmission then you can reattach the electrical connection to the transmission support crossmember and finally lower the vehicle.
