The connectors on air bag modules and pretensioners should never be probed because this action could lead to air bag deployment and personal injury. Safety glasses must be used at all times when dealing with the safety belt pretensioner system because of its pyrotechnic nature. Use memory saver devices only with caution since they may cause personal injury risks. Operating on the supplemental restraint system must be depowered first. During engine operation the air bag warning lamp will become activated through the restraints control module (RCM) fuse removal but does not indicate any system faults. The SRS needs to pass all operational checks without faults prior to returning the vehicle to its customer. All seat configurations between drivers and passengers and power-controlled seats and manual seats show identical patterns. The first step is to disable the SRS followed by handling the recliner handle cover and then disconnecting the outboard front seat side cushion shield but maintain attention to the attachment screws when performing the outboard passenger seat shield maintenance while sliding it ahead. Proceed to disconnect both heated seat switch and seat control switch electronic connectors if required. To access the heated seat switch electrical connector of the driver seat side cushion shield you must first remove the three screws.
