How to service the throttle body safely and effectively on 2007 Mercury Mountaineer?

Service of the throttle body requires safety precautions because highly flammable mixtures exist within fuel-related components. Therefore, keep fuel components away from all forms of ignition and tobacco products. Start by taking off the outlet tube for the air cleaner and disassembling the electronic throttle body (TB) electric connector followed by the throttle position (TP) sensor electric connector. After removing the nut you should place the wiring harness bracket to the side. Sanitize the area by removing all bolts holding the electronic TB in place together with the gasket that needs disposal. Terminate the installation process of the new electronic TB by putting a fresh gasket and tightening all bolts to 9 Nm torque value (80 lb-in torque limit). They should finish the installation by reversing the steps of removal.
