2008 Ford Crown Victoria Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the intake manifold on 2008 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: A person should begin intake manifold service by depowering the fire suppression mechanism to prevent injuries. Place the vehicle onto the hoist at NEUTRAL gear position. Service of the intake manifold requires disconnecting the fuel tube spring lock coupling together with battery ground cable and requiring complete draining of the engine cooling system. Start the service of the intake manifold by removing the air cleaner with its outlet pipe and wiper mounting arm along with the pivot shaft. Start by disconnecting both fuel injector electrical connectors and ignition coil-on-plug connectors that include eight units. The first step involves removing the two bolts attaching the intake manifold shield along with disconnecting the brake booster vacuum hose together with quick connect coupling hoses for the evaporative emission canister purge valve and the PCV tube from the throttle body spacer. Cut the electrical and vacuum connections of the EGR system module together with the vacuum hoses linking the throttle body spacer to the intake manifold and the generator electrical connection. Unfasten the four bolts connecting the generator bracket and remove both components before taking out the coolant thermostat. The technician disconnects throttle control and throttle position sensor electrical connectors before releasing the heater hose spring clamp to then disconnect the heater hose. Remove the EGR system module tube by first removing the wire harness retainer from the intake manifold crash bracket followed by unbolt and relocation of the crash bracket bolt away from the cylinder head. Connectors leading to the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor must be removed first before the wire harness retainers are taken off from the left front fuel rail stud and the rear of the intake manifold. Separate the right-hand rear fuel rail stud ground connector before removing the intake manifold securing bolts one by one. Discard the gaskets during this process. Clean both sealing surfaces then install new intake manifold gaskets by placing the gasket locator tabs correctly into the cylinder head slots. Position the intake manifold before your hand torques each of the eight bolts and introduces the eight ignition coil-on-plugs. Position the intake manifold crash bracket with its bolt and stud bolt then loosely install them before finishing all bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) in order of manufacturer specification. Install the intake manifold crash bracket bolt to match its specified torque value. The installation process requires you to install the EGR system module tube together with intake manifold shield before tightening two bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). The installer must next reconnect throttle control and throttle position sensor electrical connectors followed by installing the coolant thermostat along with the generator bracket through four bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall each cable by connecting the generator electrical connector before placing the EVAP canister purge valve hoses to the throttle body and EVAP canister purge valve while also attaching the intake manifold vacuum hose to the throttle body spacer and EGR system module vacuum and electrical connectors. The PCV tube requires quick connect coupling at the throttle body spacer and the brake booster needs connection to the intake manifold while the heater hose installs with a spring clamp. Senior engineers should connect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor vacuum connections together with electrical connectors while also connecting the eight fuel injector electrical connectors and installing wire harness retainers. You should install the air cleaner along with outlet pipe first after connecting the ground connector to the right-hand rear fuel rail stud bolt and reinstalling the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft and connecting the fuel spring lock coupling. The last task includes reconnecting the battery ground cable while performing a cooling system bleed followed by fire suppression system repowering when necessary alongside adherence to safety warnings and procedures.
