2008 Ford Escape Engine Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2008 Ford Escape?
A: The PCM replacement process requires access to all customer keys because PCM replacement does not demand replacement keys during installation. Initiate the procedure for Programmable Module Installation to receive the module configuration. Start the procedure by taking off the PCM stud bolt nut before setting the wiring harness to the side. Begin the procedure by disconnecting the three electrical connectors attached to the PCM followed by removing the two stud bolts then the PCM before putting the PCM cowl seal back in place. Start by placing the PCM cowl seal and afterward install the PCM by attaching its two stud bolts which need to be tightened to a torque of 6 Nm (53 lb-in). After connecting the three PCM electrical connectors install the PCM stud bolt nut to a tightness of 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Afterward restore the module configuration through instructions found in the Programmable Module Installation document while reprogramming the passive anti-theft system (PATS) through the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys process.
