- Q: How to service the rear seat cushion on 2008 Ford F-150?A: First service the rear seat cushion by taking out its whole piece. Start the seating process by removing the latch and four rear seat latch bolts. When reinstalling them ensure they achieve 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque value. Separate the 60/40 retention clip while uninstalling the center support riser. Disassemble the support riser bolt from the 60 percent seat while tightening it to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft) prior to reinstallation of the support riser pivot bolt and bushing with 33 Nm (24 lb-ft) torque. The process requires removal of the left support riser together with the latch handle screw and handle, the latch cover screw and cover and the latch cushion bolt and latch that should be tightened to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft) in the final assembly phase. A delicate approach should be taken to disconnect the seat cushion trim cover from hook-and-loop strip to prevent foam pad damage because removal proceeds with the 60 percent cushion trim cover followed by hog rings and seat trim cover and ultimately the 60 percent cushion foam pad and inboard pivot bushing. The steps for the 40 percent seat require unbolted removal of the support riser bolt with 33 Nm (24 lb-ft) torque and later bolt installation at 33 Nm (24 lb-ft). Also disassemble the support riser pivot bolt, bushing and right support riser at 33 Nm (24 lb-ft). The repair process requires removal of the latch handle screw with handle, the latch cover screw with cover, and the latch bolt and latch, where all parts should be tightened to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft) torque when installing back. The process requires proper hook-and-loop strip caution for separating the trim cover so one can proceed with removing the 40 percent cushion trim cover and hog rings followed by the seat cushion trim cover and finally both the 40 percent cushion foam pad and inboard pivot bushing. The reassembly requires following the opposite sequence of disassembly instructions.
