    A: The servicing process of axle shaft assembly starts after removing both the rear brake disc and the differential housing cover. The process of removing the differential pinion shaft requires attention because rotating the differential case or axle shaft runs the risk of differential pinion gears escaping and possibly harming other parts. First remove the differential pinion shaft lock bolt and then proceed with removing the differential pinion shaft. When removing the axle shaft U-washer stay mindful to protect the rubber 0-ring that is positioned in the U-washer groove by means of carefully pushing the axle shaft inboard before taking out the U-washer. The technician should mount the differential pinion shaft by first pushing the axle shaft outboard followed by differential pinion shaft installation and then tightening the lock bolt just enough to keep it in place. Before removing the axle shaft apply lubrication to its wheel bearing oil seal lip while ensuring it stays undamaged. During the differential pinion shaft removal process discard the lock bolt while simultaneously installing the axle shaft but avoid damaging the rubber 0-ring inside the U-washer groove. Use the U-washer to position it on the axle shaft button end then extract the shaft until the U-washer fits inside the side gear properly. Place the differential pinion shaft with its hole properly aligned to the lock bolt hole then fasten it with a new lock bolt tightened to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). After replacing the brake disk you should install the differential housing cover.
