2009 Ford Expedition Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2009 Ford Expedition?
A: The vehicle should be in NEUTRAL position on a hoist before servicing the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Start the service by taking off the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley followed by disconnecting both the A/C compressor electrical connector and the CKP sensor electrical connector. The service begins by removing the three bolts from the A/C compressor which you should then place aside. Next perform bolt removal followed by removing the CKP sensor while preparing the O-ring seal for installation by applying engine oil. The installation requires CKP sensor bolt torque set to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) while A/C compressor bolts should be tightened to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The final step requires using a scan tool to conduct the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure according to the on-screen prompts.
