How to service and repair the turn signal switch on 2009 Lincoln MKS?

In order to repair and service the turn signal switch, remove the steering column shrouds first. Next, remove the two screws that fasten the electrical connector of the multifunction switch and unplug the electrical connector. Because of changing the switch, screws should be tightened to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) and the steps of their removal should be inverted in order to complete the installation.
