2009 Lincoln MKX A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: What are the steps and precautions for replacing the A/C condenser in this on 2009 Lincoln MKX?
A: The A/C condenser delivered with this vehicle contains an original receiver/drier desiccant bag from the factory but requires the included separate desiccant bag in the A/C condenser service part kit when the condenser operates with an extended installation period because moisture contamination becomes possible. All O-ring seals used on this vehicle need to be exactly the same as Ford specifies because other Ford product O-rings are not interchangeable. First recover the refrigerant and then position and hoist the vehicle into neutral gear before draining the engine coolant. Start by removing the front bumper cover followed by the cooling fan while you disconnect the upper radiator hose by loosening its clamp at the radiator. Deactivate the two radiator bracket clips mounted on the radiator support while moving the radiator toward the back. Detach the condenser lines from their clips on the radiator then remove the outlet and inlet fitting bolts to disconnect the fittings before discarding the O-ring seals that need tightening to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Remove the two condenser bolts after which extract the condenser core from above the vehicle. The installation process for the new condenser should start by reversing the removal steps with fresh O-ring seals treated in clean PAG oil and proper PAG oil lubrication of the refrigerant system. Finish the procedure by filling the engine cooling system and then executing vacuum leakage tests before charging the refrigerant system.
