How to service the air filter element on 2009 Mercury Mountaineer?

In order to service the air filter, retain the MAF sensor connector. To remove the wiring harness in 4.0L engines, remove the wiring harness at the AF outlet pipe; in 4.6L engines, at the coolant tank. Unscrew the clamp, unplug the outlet pipe, strip off the AF cover and pull off the air filter. Wipe off AF tray and replace.
