After supporting the transmission remove its insulator nuts before throwing them away. The process requires gusset removal by initially disassembling its frame-mounting connections before unfastening its transmission support crossmember bindings and finally extracting the part itself. Next follow the steps to eliminate nuts and bolts from both the right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) sides of the transmission support crossmember while arranging the lines for adequate entry. The installation of transmission support crossmember begins with placing it into position before securing loose nuts and bolts on the LH side followed by the RH side. Secure the LH side nuts and bolts to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) while verifying proper connection between the transmission crossmember gusset and the transmission crossmember to avoid exhaust contact. Begin by fastening the transmission support crossmember gusset nuts and bolts with loose torques on both crossmember and frame points before tightening all frame bolts to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). After installation of the transmission side gusset bolts and nuts the technician must apply 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) torque to these components. Place new transmission support insulator nuts on the manual transmission and tighten them to 115 Nm or on automatic transmissions to 103 Nm. Finish the procedure by taking away the transmission support and restoring the electrical system to the crossmember of the transmission support.
