One of the components is the Water Pump that is installed in Ford Crown Victoria and has a vital task of circulating the coolant from the radiator to the engine that takes up heat generated during combustion. Almost all designs employ a belt-driven pump with impellers to pump water through the system, and the latest models have got electric water pumps. Today's water pumps are created from aluminum, consisted of a shaft and has bearing to minimize leakage. High performance water pumps are produced for high performance engines and may provide the greater price of coolant flow and the lesser price of power than standard water pumps. It has fewer limitations like self-cooling through the circulation of coolant and cooling it even after the engine has shut down; thus, electric water pumps are custom-oriented and primarily used in high-performance vehicles.
Q: How to Service and Repair the Water Pump on Ford Crown Victoria?
A:
Start service and repair of a coolant pump by depowering the fire suppression system (if present) then draining the cooling system. To begin repair of the coolant pump start by releasing four bolts on the pulley shaft. Then remove the accessory belt. You must first take out the four bolts that protect the coolant pump pulley and afterward discard the O-ring seal before uninstalling the four coolant pump holding bolts. The installation of the new coolant pump requires fresh O-ring seal lubricated with new engine coolant applied to it and proper torque of bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). The housing of the coolant pump should not turn after installation to protect the O-ring seal which serves to prevent leaks. The system requires activation of the fire suppression if present followed by proper cooling system filling and bleeding procedures.
