Service and repair of the oil pan requires first disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by draining the cooling system. Begin by taking away the air cleaner assembly and subsequent removal of
Fan Shroud and fan assembly before proceeding to detach the upper intake manifold. Remove the bolt which maintains the dipstick tube support bracket to the transmission converter housing. Rise the vehicle into the air then extract all engine oil. Support the engine by placing a screw jack with block wood under the oil pan before unscrewing and removing the nuts which are located on both pan sides. Engine elevation requires sufficient clearance of 330mm (13 inches) between engine crankshaft damper and the bottom point of crossmember. You should first separate the bolt which holds the oil pan to the right side of the transmission converter housing and then proceed with the left side bolts before removing all remaining bolts to remove the oil pan while discarding the oil pan seal. The oil pan along with rear oil seal must be installed within seven minutes otherwise the sealant needs to be removed and reapplied. Apply sealant to the mating surfaces of oil pan before cleaning them with metal surface cleaner. The bolt installation consists of two steps with tightening Torque values starting at 4 - 5 Nm (35 - 44 inch lbs.) before progressing to 9 - 12 Nm (79 - 106 inch lbs.). Follow the specific bolt sequence.
