A: Service the thermostat and housing of the 4.6L engine, drain partly the cooling system, remove air cleaner assembly and perform the outlined steps of removal. Installation Reverse process; fill and bleed cooling system, lubricate new thermostat O-ring seal with clean coolant and then place.
A: To maintain the thermostat, dehumidify the cooling system partially, disconnect the upper radiator hose and also dehumidify the water outlet by removing the bolts. Installing a new O-ring will require a replacement of the thermostat and the O-ring seal and re-installing of both. Lastly, re-attach the hose and fill the cooling system.
