The Ford Flex Differential Cover fits the Ford Flex line up perfectly and is one of the most important assemblies that defines reliability and performance. Primarly, used to contain and stop lubricant spillage and over the internal parts, FSM Flexible Differential Cover protects parts of the gear ring and the pinion from dust and grime, enabling proper functioning of ring-and-pinion gear. This feature benefits the overall utilization of the Ford Flex making it a reliable car for consumers. Applicable for different years and versions of Ford Flex, the Differential Cover is produced in steel, aluminum, and cast iron to meet the requirement of performance enhancement as well as the owner's preferences in styles. The finishes range from chrome and black although this is powder coated black, to make the product stand out even more. Ford is a versatile SUV which is notable for the large interior space and rather unique design; the form of the car has changed several times following the customer's preferences. Depending on the model, a car owner can choose between front-wheel and all-wheel drive, and thus, drive the Ford Flex with comfort while their car is protected by the features of the Differential Cover. This component not only enhances the life cycle of the car but also has a critical function of sustaining the car's performance under different driving conditions. The Diameter Cover delivers sophistication among other Ford Flex parts because of the suitability, toughness and versatility in terms of color favoring the Ford Flex automobile.

Ford Flex Differential Cover Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Differential Cover on Ford Flex?
    A:
The first step to servicing differential housing cover requires placing a hoisted vehicle into neutral position. Before proceeding with the differential housing cover service you must remove the exhaust insulator nearest the cover when using soapy water. Use a drain pan to collect the differential fluid before removing its 10 cover bolts then draining the housing fluid. First clean all machined areas on the rear axle housing and differential housing cover completely before installing the new silicone sealant while covering the inside of the rear axle to avoid impurities. The joint areas of differential housing and cover need cleaning for installation. The differential housing cover requires installation within fifteen minutes after silicone application or the silicone needs replacement. The proper curing process for silicone sealant requires one hour before lubricant addition. Place a continuous strip of clear silicone rubber after which the differential housing cover needs installation with its 10 bolts secured at 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Add 1.15L (2.43 pt) of rear axle lubricant until it reaches 3-5 mm (0.118-0.196 in) below the bottom of the filler hole. Reinstall the filler plug and torque it to 29 Nm (21 lb-ft). The exhaust insulator should be installed near the differential housing cover provided the original equipment was present.
