Ford Flex Windshield Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to reseal a windshield on Ford Flex?
A: The windshield resealing process starts with uninstalling external A-pillar window mouldings and upper cowl panel grille and A-pillar trim panels as well as overhead console and passenger front assist handle. After separating the LH and RH sun visors with their clips you must lower the front headliner section before securely supporting it with proper materials. Use glass cleaner to properly clean all surfaces of the windshield glass both on the inside and outside. The urethane adhesive applicator tip requires cutting to 6 mm (0.24 in) length before using it in conjunction with a high-ratio electric or battery-operated caulk gun to create a smooth adhesive application without gaps between beads. Squeeze the urethane adhesive over the current urethane covering both top and side areas of the windshield within the vehicle cabin and across its bottom edge while outside. The urethane adhesive will reach satisfactory adhesion following at least one hour of cure time before you carry out air and water leak tests. The windshield seal should be inspected for leakage after curing then additional urethane adhesive can be applied if needed. First reposition the front part of the headliner while reinstalling both LH and RH sun visor clips along with passenger front assist handle and overhead console followed by A-pillar trim panels and upper cowl panel grille as well as exterior A-pillar window mouldings. Use glass cleaner to clean the walls of both windshield glass sides for a final application.
