How should you service the starter motor on Ford Focus?

To service the starter motor, make sure that the car is in neutral in a hoist. Disconnect the battery ground, disassemble and assemble starter solenoid wire nut (5 Nm) and battery cable nut (12 Nm). Take out the power steering tube bracket then the starter motor. Re-assemble with tightening of bolts to the relevant torque. No contact with hot parts.

How to service and repair the starter motor on a Zetec engine on Ford Focus?

A Zetec engine requires the battery ground cable and the MAF sensor connector to be disconnected after which the starter motor can be serviced. Take out breather pipe and air cleaner out pipe and bolts of upper starter motor. Lift up the car, unjoin the starter motor connector and take away the starter. Installation is in reverse.
