In order to service the thermostat and housing, it is important to make sure that the vehicle is in neutral on a hoist. Drain the cooling system, and accessory drive belt, and power steering tube. Take out cooling fan, A/C compressor and hose disconnection. Take out the thermostat assembly and lubricate the O-ring and repeat the step. Fill and bleed the system.

To service thermostat in the engine with 2.3L, drain the cooling system, pull off the accessory drive belt, and replace the power steering hoses, cooling fan motor, and A/C compressor. Take off the hoses of the thermostat that are in the thermostat house, take off the thermostat and the housing, grease the O-ring and reverse the process to put it back into place.
