Beginning the service process of the 2.3L engine thermostat and housing requires draining the cooling system fluid. The vehicle requires positioning on a hoist in NEUTRAL gear while removing the accessory drive belt. Disassemble the operation by first removing the two power steering hose bracket retaining nuts before setting the hoses and brackets on the side. After removing the cooling fan motor and shroud the service can continue with the removal of the four bolts from the A/C compressor before setting the compressor out of the way. The coolant hoses can be detached from the thermostat housing after spring clamps release and a twist motion removes the hoses. The assembly of thermostat and thermostat housing can be pulled out after unbolting both components. Patronize the O-ring of the thermostat housing with clean engine coolant before installing. The cooling system completion requires you to execute removal steps in reverse order while performing fill-ups followed by bleeding procedures.
