Being constructed solidly in various material including steel, aluminum and cast iron, it has contributed to the durability part of Ford Taurus and it is compatible with various models of Taurus in the production process. Thus, the function of the Differential Cover goes far beyond the fact that it serves as guards; it helps to increase the efficiency and safety of a vehicle maintaining optimum levels of lubrication and preventing the contamination. There is also a Differential Cover which is finished in chrome and powder coated black to match other car parts but meets the basic requirement of a cover. This versatility along with the reliability that the buyers associate with the Ford car makes the Differential Cover an ideal pick in the automobile market. Due to its compatibility with various Taurus models and positive impact on the Taurus's performance, the Differential Cover is a critical component in the Ford Taurus engineering. In conclusion, thereby improving the vehicle's performance efficiency, the Differential Cover also establishes the Taurus durability, safety which are inherent to Ford vehicles, making it an ESP vital for any Taurus model vehicle.

Ford Taurus Differential Cover Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Differential Cover on Ford Taurus?
    A:
The first step to service or repair the differential housing cover is positioning the vehicle on a hoist and setting it to neutral gear position. Place the drain pan underneath the differential while removing its 10 cover bolts. Before using new silicone sealant clean both machined surfaces of the rear axle housing and the differential housing cover alongside ensuring proper coverage inside the rear axle to avoid contamination. Both differential housing surfaces and differential housing cover surfaces require cleaning before using new silicone sealant. When installing the differential housing cover you must do it within 15 minutes of silicone application so a fresh application of silicone sealant will be needed otherwise. The silicone sealant needs at least one hour to cure properly before lubricant can be added to the system. A continuous bead of clear silicone rubber must be applied before installing the differential housing cover with its 10 bolts tightened to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Install the filler plug on the rear axle then add 1.15 L of rear axle lubricant to achieve a lubricant level 3-5 mm below the bottom of the filler hole before securely fastening the plug using 29 Nm torque.
