Ford Thunderbird Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake light switch on Ford Thunderbird?
    A:
Service and repair of the brake light switch starts with removing three pin-type retainers and the instrument panel insulator along with disconnecting the electrical connector. The next step requires Disconnecting the electrical connector of the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch then Removing the switch from its installation position. During the first BPP switch installation only one adjustment is possible since additional modifying would require switching to a new switch unit. Vent the lock knob to the left and proceed to fully press the brake pedal after starting the engine. The BPP switch requires placement into the bracket before rotating counterclockwise when attaching the electrical connector. Release the brake pedal gradually before installing the instrument panel insulator which needs to be held by three pin-type retainers as you ensure proper connection of the electrical connector.
