Lincoln LS Wiper Linkage Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Wiper Linkage on Lincoln LS?
    A:
The procedure is typically started by disconnecting the battery ground cable to prevent unintended wiper movement, since many windshield wiper systems are fitted with an auto-park function. Cowl top vent panels and the bolts securing the strut tower support brace are removed, and in some cases the fasteners holding the degas bottle are released so the bottle can be moved aside; its lower hose is often rerouted in front of the brake booster depending on the vehicle layout. Windshield wiper mounting arms and pivot shaft bolts are then released and the drain boot is disconnected, allowing the mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly to be positioned aside while the upper windshield wiper motor bolt is loosened and the assembly withdrawn. The wiper output arm is typically rotated to the 6 o'clock position so the lower wiper motor bolts can be removed and the electrical connector disconnected. Reinstallation is generally accomplished by reversing the disassembly steps.
