Lincoln MKS Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on Lincoln MKS?
A: Service and repair of the coolant reservoir requires checking that the engine temperature is cool because opening the cooling system under pressure results in forceful steam and hot liquid releases which pose dangers for serious injuries. Start by opening the cooling system pressure using one-half turn counterclockwise movement on the pressure relief cap before removing the cap. The lower degas bottle hose requires hose clamp pliers to secure it before using a suitable suction device for removing coolant from the bottle. Disconnect the hoses from upper and lower degas bottles after the pin-type retainer removal from the degas bottle when separating the Power Steering Reservoir from the degas bottle. Run the degas bottle unhindered by removing its two securing bolts. Install the part by performing the uninstallation steps in reverse order then torquing bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). After filling the degas bottle with recommended coolant mixture users should check the coolant level for accuracy.
