Beginning any evaporative emission canister purge valve servicing requires you to disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent both explosion and fire hazards from fuel vapor discharge. You need to take out the lower cowl panel when working on the EVAP canister purge valve of vehicles running on 3.0L or 3.5L engines. Service on the EVAP canister purge valve requires the electrical connector to be removed and two quick connect couplings to be separated from the EVAP canister vapor tube. Toward the end of the EVAP canister purge valve bracket use the tab to unlatch it from its position. The installation of the new valve requires following the opposite direction of removal steps. Verify proper operation of the evaporative emission system through testing of leaks and performing an evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle after installation.
