Lincoln Navigator Front Cross-Member Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the front cross-member for transmission support on Lincoln Navigator?
A: Start servicing the transmission support crossmember by using a hoist while positioning the transmission in neutral position. Protection should be removed from the skid plate before you detach its fasteners and the skid plate itself. The service begins with left-hand and right-hand Exhaust Heat Shield-to-crossmember fastener detachment but the transmission mount nuts require removal before installation. You must tighten these nuts to 76 lb-ft (103 Nm). Place support underneath the transmission to denote the position of the crossmember relative to the frame bracket edge that will serve as a reference for correct rejoining. It is essential to orient the crossmember nuts so they face forward towards the vehicle. disconnect and remove the two bolts on each side while removing the transmission crossmember until you reinstall it at 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). To finish the installation reverse all previously executed steps.
