How to service the battery cables on Lincoln Town Car?

Service the battery cables by starting with NEUTRAL position on a hoist while securing the vehicle. Detach the battery while removing the nut alongside the engine cover before retightening the nut to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The battery cable body ground terminal needs to be detached by following bolt removal and then placed aside before secure installation to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque. Remove the two battery cable harness locators from the fenderwell before taking out the nut to set the BJB cable terminal aside when you reinstall it at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Keep the generator B+ terminal nut removed until installation time when you will tighten it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Release the battery cable harness locator from the generator bracket. Remove the nut and place the battery cable engine ground terminal aside while tightening it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The starter terminal cover and battery cable harness locator need to be removed from the valve cover stud bolt. Put away the nut which secures the starter solenoid positive terminal and tighten it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) when reinstalling. During removal set aside the nut for the starter solenoid wire terminal while tightening it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) before reassembly. To finish the process uninstall the battery cable harness through releasing all three remaining battery cable harness locators while performing the reverse removal steps.
