This part has also been referred to as the vibration damper and is used to eliminate torsional vibrations and distortions occurring on the crankshaft, due to combustion. Engineering of this model is quite sound - metal hub is affixed to the crankshaft, and there is a large inertia ring and a rubber damper to increase balance and power. The Lincoln Town Car Harmonic Balancer is used on the Town Car body models made from 1981 to 2011 for better performance and safety from high vibration levels that could cause crankshaft failure. Because of these reasons, the harmonic balancer is prone to operational degradation after sometime of use, the Town Car's smooth ride requires the part to be checked periodically. Details of the Lincoln Town Car Harmonic Balancer include the special set of features of this harmonic balancer in handling increased rpm's; this made the automotive product special enough as it is ensured that even modified engines are able to perform optimally. Finally, the Lincoln Town Car Harmonic Balancer is a great testimony to the Lincoln brand of automobiles, offering the town Car motorists a smooth and efficient ride to complete the whole package of the majestic town car.

Lincoln Town Car Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley on Lincoln Town Car?
    A:
The engine cooling Fan Motor and shroud need to be deleted as the first step before servicing or repairing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley. Follow these steps to remove the accessory Drive Belt from the tensioner as you rotate its mechanism clockwise. Then uninstall the crankshaft pulley bolt. The Crankshaft Vibration Damper Remover should be used to disconnect the crankshaft pulley. Use silicone sealant on the Woodruff key slot of the crankshaft pulley before installation and complete the procedure within 4 minutes of applying the silicone. The installation of the crankshaft pulley requires a Crankshaft Vibration Damper Installer which should be used along with a Strap Wrench for holding the pulley in position. The bolt installation process starts with tightening it to 120 Nm (89 lb-ft) and follows with a full turn relaxation then continuing to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) until achieving an additional 90 degrees of torque. The first step after rotation of the tensioner is to reattach the accessory drive belt before reinstalling the engine cooling fan motor and shroud.
