    A: The first step for servicing and repairing the driveshaft universal joint requires you to place the driveshaft on a suitable workbench while avoiding the use of a vise clamp that could potentially cause damage. Draw marks on the driveshaft components that show their constitutional distances to the center of the driveshaft tube for future assembly. You should clamp a Screw Installer/Remover in a vise as part of a C-Frame to extract the snap rings. Vise grips should be used when a bearing cup remains resistant to complete pressing action from the workbench. When mounting the driveshaft into the C-Frame it will push out a bearing cup followed by 180-degree rotation and bearing cup press installation to extract the opposing cup. The next steps of the procedure include removing the driveshaft slip-yoke alongside existing bearing cups and spider before addressing the snap rings found on the driveshaft centering socket yoke end. Check and clean both ends of the driveshaft yoke before performing a damage and wear assessment. The assembly process begins with feeding a bearing cup into the driveshaft yoke through the outside while moving it into center position to place a new spider afterward before pressing the bearing cup below the yoke surface. The correct positioning of bearings and thrust washer must be verified. When dealing with difficult snap ring installation use black snap rings available in the U-joint kit as alternative components. You should perform the same installation process for the other side and for the driveshaft centering socket yoke. When binding happens in bearings, users should use brass or plastic hammers to properly seat bearing cups. The inspection for U-joint movement becomes necessary after fully installing all bearing cups and snap rings.
