  A: Service and repair of the evaporative emission control canister requires the vehicle to be placed into NEUTRAL position while mounted on a hoist. You should disconnect the battery ground cable to stop electrical sparks from forming and creating a risk that could ignite fuel vapors. Fuel-related components must remain free from smoking and open flames as well as personal electronic devices because their contents contain highly flammable mixtures. The evaporative emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid needs its electrical connector removed before taking the fuel vapor hose off from the vent solenoid and dust separator assembly. Take out both quick connect couplings from the EVAP canister assembly before removing its two bolts and two nuts. The fasteners require torque tightening to reach 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during new canister installation while using the same uninstallation steps.
