How to service and repair the front exterior door handle on Mercury Cougar?

First service and repair the front door exterior handle by taking off the door trim panel while peeling back the watershield with caution to the adhesive surface to prevent re-bonding contamination. First disconnect the lock cylinder actuator rod and the door handle actuator rod by rotating the clip by ninety degrees before removing the actuator rod. First detach and remove the door handle outer bezel after which you must proceed with taking off the exterior handle. Repeating the uninstallation steps will install the component.
