How to service the axle shaft assembly on Mercury Grand Marquis?

To replace the axle shaft assembly, deactivate the air suspension system and deactivate the fire suppression system (where it exists). Disassemble the back brake caliper, disc and anti-lock sensor. Next, take off the differential housing cover and pinion shaft. Install components slowly and make sure the seals are intact and tighten with the recommended torque.
